He Shoots! He Scores!

Senator Obama’s excellent adventure abroad continues —- not, to be sure, without criticism.

It has engendered interesting commentary —such as Noam Scheiber’s “The Amazingly Superficial Race” in the new New Republic.

And it has inspired inspired analysis — such as Charles Krauthammer’s “The Audacity of Vanity” in last Friday’s Washington Post.

But let’s face it — any trip that can generate moments like the following one in Kuwait is a 24-carat copper-bottomed home run. (And notice the Senator’s sly question undercutting the charges that he hasn’t visited the region: “Didn’t I play with you last time I was here?”)

Skeptics —and there are always skeptics— may suggest that the Senator has the makings of a basketball shark. Be that as it may, he is clearly no stranger to shooting a 3 pointer and using it to make a political point:
