A letter to the editor writer in Des Moines:

A lot that President Richard Nixon did was bad, but not the national maximum speed limit of 55 mph that went into effect in 1974 . A rose to U.S. Sen. John Warner and U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier for introducing a second round of that bill, which could save more lives than we can count and more gas than we can measure.
