VP Candidate’s Big Gaffe This Week
September 13, 2008 by John H. Taylor | Filed Under Democratic Party, Election 2008
Did TNN overlook the media firestorm over this inept admission by a major-party candidate?:
Speaking at rally in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Mr Biden said: “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice-president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight.” He continued: “She’s a truly close personal friend…quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me….”
Was this:
(a) Sen. Biden, motor mouth, saying the first two, three, or four things that came into his head? If so, gaffe.
(b) An attempt to keep Sen. Clinton’s supporters on board? Sen. McCain has been criticized for thinking (which I don’t think he really does) that Clinton supporters would vote GOP just because he named a woman as VP. Does Biden think women will stay with the Democrats just because he says he likes Clinton? If he does, gaffe.
(c) An implicit criticisim of the decisionmaking of Sen. Obama? Way gaffe!
