State is the New Fannie and Freddie
October 10, 2008 by Jonathan Movroydis | Filed Under International Affairs
A couple of months ago, Fox News correspondent James Rosen warned about the ramifications of Undersecretary of State Cristopher Hill’s acceptance of relatively less favorable conditions than Pyonyang’s first offer of disarmament. Consequently, as explained by Claudia Rosett in her article at Pajamas Media today, in typical Fannie and Freddie fashion the government will soon be echoing “we never saw it coming,” as Sec. Rice and company are incessantly reviving a diplomatic model that has effectively positioned them to bear any price and effectively bailout avaricious rogue-states that realize that we are willing to pay their blackmail:
Word is leaking out of Washington that Condoleezza Rice is on the verge of removing North Korea from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, with an announcement imminent.
Why? It’s not because North Korea has gone out the terror business. If anything, Pyongyang –with considerable success — appears to be quite busy at the moment terrorizing the U.S. State Department. North Korea has learned that Rice and her special envoy, Chris Hill, baseball cap in hand, will do just about anything (pay, wait, fudge, dissemble, cover up, roll over, beg) to keep alive the pretense of a nuclear disarmament deal which from the start was about as solid as today’s mortgage derivatives market.
North Korea wants off the terror list. The State Department, having showered Kim with gifts since mid-2007, finally balked, for the very good reason that North Korea refuses to agree to any system that might let inspectors actually verify what’s going on with its nuclear ventures (let alone take away the bombs). So North Korea is now threatening to re-start its Yongbyon reactor, and letting out rumbles about preparations to test another nuclear weapon. This is a way of telling the United States to jump. And if Rice responds to this blackmail by taking North Korea off the terror list, what she and Hill and President Bush (is he still there?) will really be saying to Pyongyang is: How high?

Got something to say?

I think it’s time that friends of the Former President make more of an effort to loudly proclaim what we know to be true: That President Nixon was our GREATEST President! He ended the war in VietNam in victory — only Congress’s failure to assist our ally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory! His progressive domestic policies showed that government has a role in solving problems and making America great! Environmental protection and affirmative action were brought to you by President Nixon! He brought the Cold War to a stage where it could be ended, brought China into the world community and made America stronger! The former President inherited a bitterly divided country. Watergate was — as the President said — one part wrongdoing, one part bungling and one part political vendetta. Watergate was a political event … Any scholars out there want to write a completely one sided book about the former President’s accomplishments? The President’s reputation is coming back … let’s build on the momentum!
