The Episcopal Church Continues To Serve

November 6, 2008 by John H. Taylor | Filed Under Episcopal Church, Obama administration

The London Times:

Barack Obama sought out controversial gay bishop Gene Robinson not just once but three times during his campaign to become President of the United States, The Times can reveal.

Bishop Robinson, the 80-million strong Anglican Communion’s only openly gay bishop whose consecration in 2003 has left the Anglican Communion on the brink of schism, was sought out by Mr Obama to discuss what it feels like to be “first”.

Bishop Robinson, who received death threats after his election as Bishop of New Hampshire and was advised by police to wear a bullet-proof vest at his consecration, also discussed with Mr Obama the risks incumbent upon being a high-profile leader in a country such as the US.

Bishop Robinson said: “At the end of the day you have to decide whether or not you are going to be paralysed by threats and by violent possibilities or whether you just move on and do what you feel called to do despite the risks.

FOR THE HISPTORICAL RCORD = DUring 22- 24 June 2009 in Bedford, TX “The Anglican Church of North America” was formed as a alternative, conservative, Biblically-based opion to the Episcopal Church of the U.S.A.!

THE ISSUES ARE NOT SOLELY over the consecration of an outwardly homo-sexual Episcopal Bishop in the Northeast.

The curren Presiding Bishop – formerly of the Nevada Diocese in Las Vegas – stands accused of stealing from the established bishops & priests pension fund to pay attorneys to represent the Episcopal Church in courts to take control of local parish properties.

A highly visible case involved a Newport Beach, CA parish which left the Episcopal communion – BUT NOT the world-wide Anglican Communion. Likely “The Orange County Register” [Santa Ana, CA] news ‘clips & files have a far better record on this topic.

In Bedford, TX [in late June of this year] the senior pastor of Saddleback Church [in Lake Forest, CA] broke his silence on the issue – offering locations for Eucharist celebrations (Communions) for any disaffected Anglicans.

Roman Catholics met recently in London with the Anglican Archibishop of Canterbury, then announced “an offer” to any disaffected priests to become Catholics – while remaining married as either Episcopalians or Anglicans.

There are two web sites from both factions of the Episcopal & Anglican churches for further information.

ONE CLOSING COMMENT = IMO, only: The latest status quo has some remarkable similarities to the circumstances at the time of Fr. MARTIN LUTHER posting his famous “95 Theses” in 1517 at the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany.

From that act of righteous indignation: The Protestant Reformation began!

My blessed former aerospace-defense industry colleague The Rev. Dr. John H. Taylor may righteously disagree with my analysis from the position of being a lay member of afore-mentioned Anglican Church – North America.

Got something to say?
